Situation

As we clear out the bowl of invasive plants like autumn olive we remove wildlife habitat. So, instead of leaving a void, we really want to reclaim areas of the bowl with fruit trees, wildflowers, or other ornamentals that add value to Uptop. Thus, a plan is needed to ensure that everyone get’s a say in what gets planted where. Also, we want to have agreement on what gets removed from the bowl so there are no surprises Uptop.

Vision Statement for Uptop Bowl

The main bowl Uptop has a rich history, from forested hillside, to pasture, to becoming “edge'‘ habitat and claimed by native and non-native species. Now, with proper tools and effort, the bowl can become a garden with walking paths, an orchard/vineyard, and a great place for nature. And, as amphibians and insects are in decline worldwide, our Uptop bowl can become a place that nurtures these groups of animals by creating diverse microhabitats, ponds, and plantings, to encourage diversity and allow for increased species abundance.
